It is a terrifying experience for people with sensitive tooth. The excruciating pain, soreness and uneasiness associated with it are unbearable. It is not possible for you to consume your favorite meal or drink peacefully. Whenever you take something, you would experience an ache. But one does not have to worry? Sensitive teeth can be treated.

People with sensitive teeth experience pain on intake of a cold liquid, or eating or drinking anything hot. They experience pain even if there is a cold air passing through their teeth. In case you experience unbearable soreness and pain, it is advised that you fix up an appointment with your dentist immediately, without any further delay. Now how does this condition arise? When the gum lining starts to recede backwards, your teeth are exposed. So whenever you eat or drink something, there is a feeling of sensitivity. Gums are a protective shield on the teeth. They ensure safety and security of your tooth’s roots.

The bare and uncovered tips of the roots have small tubules which are connected to the tooth nerves. Whenever there is any hot or cold thing coming into contact with them, it would react and there would be excruciating pain. People who are fortunate and do not have sensitive teeth, would have gums securely covered by the tubules. So they do not experience sensitivity.

One needs to ensure that to keep the gums strong and hygienically healthy; you need to curb sensitive teeth. This can be achieved by gently brushing the teeth in rotational movements. Normally people use lot of force while brushing. The end result is that the gums recede causing sensitive tooth. Your teeth might sparkle, but it would have done enough damage to your gums. Dentists recommend the use of an electric toothbrush like the sonicare advanced.

There are ways to rectify the problems associated with sensitive teeth. One can also make the gums and teeth stronger. The market is flooded with different varieties of toothpaste. Go in for toothpaste which has fluoride. Dentists normally recommend Sensodyne for sensitive teeth. This toothpaste curbs the pain emerging from the nerve ends.

In case you are in the habit of using a mouthwash containing alcohol, discontinue the use of mouthwash immediately. But in case your mouthwash has enough fluoride, you can use it. Also take the dentist’s advice as to which mouthwash is recommended so that you do not suffer from any pain while using it. Mouthwashes like Listerine contain alcohol, which causes a burning sensation in the mouth. Another mouthwash called Scope does not cause a burning sensation and it has enough fluoride and no alcohol.

Dentists recommend the use of Sensodyne toothpaste and mouthwash which shows positive effects on one’s teeth and gums. You would get good relief if you have used it for quite some time. Try and brush your teeth gently and use the right amount of force, since your gums would start to recede if you use more force.

In case Sensodyne and other mouthwashes are not effective, you should ask your dentist for other options. Your dentist would be able to guide you properly. He would help you to stop further sensitivity of your tooth.
